Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the response. Our systems neither retain nor log the terms submitted in those searches.
Messages and Contact Submissions
We retain an email or contact submission as needed to respond. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive certain technical information whenever a visitor loads a page:
- The date and time of each page request
- Your device's assigned IP address
- Browser name and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Any referring website
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to understand traffic patterns, such as frequently visited pages and common exit points. These services combine usage data for analysis. You may block cookies through your browser, although doing so can change how some website features work.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a submitted query to the appropriate search partner
- Maintaining availability, speed, and site operation
- Diagnosing and repairing technical problems
- Learning which content visitors use and where improvements are needed
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database containing individuals' criminal-record information. The site offers general directions to Clark County record custodians, including the sheriff, Circuit Court, Illinois State Police Bureau of Identification, and Illinois Sex Offender Registry. Official access is governed in part by the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, and the Uniform Conviction Information Act, 20 ILCS 2635. This operation is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor information is never compiled into a consumer report or a file about another person.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to sheriff pages, court portals, Illinois agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search tools. Once you follow one, the destination's privacy policy controls the visit. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across multiple websites to select targeted ads. That tracking takes place within the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. It may be disclosed to the following limited recipients:
- A search provider processing a query you submit
- Advertising networks serving ads on the website
- Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used to protect collected information. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed secure, however, and we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 18. If a minor is believed to have submitted such information, contact us so it can be deleted promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary by residence and applicable law. In Illinois, relevant protections include the Personal Information Protection Act, 815 ILCS 530, and the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act, 815 ILCS 505. At a minimum, you may:
- Request deletion of your information
- Ask for access to information held about you
- Object to certain forms of processing
- Request correction of inaccurate information
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. Any revision will be posted here and identified by a new effective date. Review the page periodically for changes in how information is handled.
Effective date: July 20, 2026
