Why We Built This Site
Illinois makes several kinds of justice records public, but access starts with the correct source. Clark County's sheriff creates jail and booking material. The Circuit Clerk keeps charges, docket events, and dispositions. ISP maintains the central state repository, while corrections and registry systems answer narrower status questions. We assembled the verified portals, contacts, fees, and request paths for those distinct offices.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference site, with no tie to an Illinois court, sheriff, police department, or state agency. Its role has firm limits:
- No official check or individual record can be produced here
- No FOIA request, sealing form, or expungement petition can be filed for a visitor
- Certified court documents and repository transcripts must come from their custodians
- Case-specific legal advice is outside the site's purpose
- Government contacts and fees should be confirmed before a request or visit
An official record must be issued by the sheriff, court, ISP, or other office that maintains the original.

Outside providers operate search boxes that appear on some pages. They control their services, results, and prices. Their output is not an official Clark County or Illinois record and must be checked at the originating office.
